7 Student Athletes commit on National Letter of Intent Signing Day

Jeff Budz, Principal of Joliet Catholic Academy is proud to announce that 7 of our student-athletes signed letters of intent on November 14th. The ceremony took place with parents and coaches in Heritage Hall at JCA. Seniors Maddie Hipp, Harley Hutchison, Mallory Mangun, Dana Nowaczyk, Morgan Reardon, Chris Tschida, and Alex Voitik have all made a commitment to a university to continue their respective sports at the collegiate level.

Maddie Hipp, daughter of Miles and Carolyn Hipp of Joliet signed a letter of intent to continue her volleyball career at St. Joseph College in Indiana. Maddie is a graduate of St. Raymond. Coach Christine Schiebe spoke very highly of Maddie, mentioning her “wicked serve” and “wonderful character”. Maddie is an outside hitter for the Angels.  She also plays club volleyball with UNO Volleyball Club in Joliet. See highlights here.

Harley Hutchison, daughter of Douglas and Leslie Hutchison of Joliet signed a letter of intent to continue her tennis career at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Harley is a graduate of St. Paul the Apostle. Harley went to state in her freshman, sophomore, and senior years and earned herself JCA’s first doubles title since 1994 (with Alexis Bauer) this year in conference. She is also a member of JCA’s Respect Life Club, Spanish Club, Student Council, Varsity Club and National Honor Society. See highlights here.

Mallory Mangun, the daughter of Terry and Jean Mangun, signed a letter of intent to Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville to continue her volleyball career. She is a graduate of St. Paul the Apostle.  Mallory plays setter for the Angels. A real standout at JCA, she was an all-conference selection and an all-area honoree. She also plays club volleyball with UNO Volleyball Club. See highlights here.

Dana Nowaczyk, the daughter of Dan and Diane Nowaczyk of Downers Grove, signed a letter of intent to continue her volleyball career at St. Thomas University in Miami. She is a graduate of Our Lady of Peace in Darien. Dana is a setter for the Angels. She is also a member of the Respect Life Club and plays club volleyball with Sports Performance. Coach Schiebe talked about how Dana was one of her most impassioned players on the team. See highlights here.

Morgan Reardon, the daughter of Michael and Sharon Reardon of Joliet, signed a letter of intent to continue her volleyball career at Loyola University in Chicago. She is a graduate of St. Raymond. Morgan is a member of the Respect Life Club, Spanish Club, and Key Club, Mu Alpha Theta and National Honor Society. Morgan was also named Herald News Player of the Year for Girls Volleyball. Chris Tschida, son of Michael and Tammy Tschida, signed a letter of intent to continue his baseball career at Western Illinois University. Chris is a graduate of Troy Middle School. He is a shortstop for the Hilltoppers. Chris boasts a .495 batting average and is a two-time all-conference selection East Suburban Conference. He has also received accolades at the state level, including Chicago Tribune Second-Team All-State, Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association All-State and Prep Baseball Report Second-Team All-State. Alex Voitik, son of Joseph and Karen Voitik of Shorewood, signed a letter of intent to continue his baseball career at College of the Holy Cross in Worchester, MA. Alex is a graduate of St. Raymond. He is a catcher for the Hilltoppers. He has been an all-area honoree and currently coaches baseball at St. Raymond. He is also a member of the Varsity Club. See highlights here.
