Modesty Blaise Tan earns first place at AATSP Poetry Contest

Joliet Catholic Academy is pleased to announce that one of its own students, Modesty Blaise Tan competed in this year’s American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portugese Poetry Contest. Over 20 area high schools competed at Niles North H.S. on November 10th. Modesty shined in competition winning over the judges with her interpretation of the poem “Romance” by Gertrudice Gomez de Avellaneda, thereby earning a first place ribbon. A junior and member of the National Spanish Honor Society, Modesty hopes to repeat her success next year.
