HILLMEN SOCCER VICTORIOUS OVER PROVIDENCE

JCA_IMG 107Boys’ soccer kicked off against Providence Catholic Monday evening. Angels and Hillmen in attendance for the Pack-the-Field game cheered the team onto victory. Hillmen soccer defeated the conference rival Celtics 4-3 in the ESCC conference game.

Goals for JCA were scored by seniors Tommy Paige, Panagiotis Zografos, Lorenzo Reyes, and sophomore Jared Olson. Assists were recorded by senior Jose Guzman, junior Ryan Lees, and sophomore Jared Olson.

JCA went down early 2-0 in the first half. Olson started the comeback by receiving an excellently played long ball over the defense and striking the ball hard into the back corner of the goal. Zografos tied the game by fighting his way through a pack and scrambling the ball into the back of the net. Senior goalkeeper Aaron Markley made a phenomenal save on a penalty kick to keep the score tied near the end of the first half.

After trailing again at halftime, Reyes got on the end of a long cross from Olson to tie the game. Paige provided the final goal by reeling in an errant pass from the Providence defense and calmly passing the ball into the back of the net.
