Serena to receive Lincoln Laureate Award

U023860_serenaJoliet Catholic Academy’s tradition of excellence in the classroom and beyond is not soon forgotten after an Angel or Hillman graduates. JCA students proudly carry on this tradition through college and life.

Thomas Serena, a JCA Class of 2010 graduate, has been named Loyola University’s 2013 Lincoln Laureate Award winner. Thomas, the Loyola faculty member who nominated him and his parents will travel to Springfield, IL on November 3, 2013. Governor Quinn or his representative will present the Lincoln Laureate Award to Thomas at the Old State Capital. A reception at the Governor’s Mansion will follow.

The Lincoln Laureate Award is presented by The Lincoln Academy of Illinois. Based on academic achievement and leadership, the award honors outstanding senior college students and one student from among all of the community college students in Illinois. The Lincoln Laureate is presented for excellence in curricular and extracurricular activities to seniors from each of the four-year, degree-granting colleges and universities in Illinois.

At the Student Laureate Convocation, Thomas will receive a Student Laureate Medallion along with a certificate of achievement. This event will mark the 39th year that students have been honored by the Academy.
