On Saturday, November 29, several Joliet Catholic Academy High School volunteer students joined together to serve more than 200 meals to the needy at Catholic Charities in Chicago located at 721 N. LaSalle Street.

The school’s tradition of being people for others and sharing and caring for the less fortunate inspired members of JCA’s Key (Kiwanis Educating Youth) Club to implement a project called “The JCA Food Wagon.” The purpose of the Food Wagon is to prepare and serve meals to less fortunate families who are in need of assistance.

“As a Catholic high school sponsored by the Carmelites and Franciscans, we strongly believe in service to others,” said Joe Burke, Theology Teacher and Key Club Moderator. “I am proud that our students have initiated the JCA Food Wagon to assist people in need.”

The JCA Food Wagon is an ongoing project. Students will be preparing and serving meals twice a month.
