Andrew Giaudrone ’10

Ian Tyrell played baseball with Andrew Giaudrone on JCA’s 3A state championship team in 2009 and the Hilltoppers fourth-place team in 2010. But their friendship goes back even further, to being a part of the St. Joe’s baseball program and Cathedral of St. Raymond grade school.

In September 2011, Giaudrone died of an apparent heart attack at the age of 20 while playing basketball.

Tyrell, his best friend, wanted to do something in memory of “G” at the school they loved. Along with family and friends, Tyrell organized the inaugural Remembering “G” Dueling Pianos event at JCA during the 2011-2012 school year. Proceeds from the event were used to establish a Remembering “G” Scholarship at the school.

Since the formation of the scholarship, events including a father-son baseball game have been held benefitting the scholarship and initiatives at JCA in memory of Andrew Giaudrone.

The fourth annual Remembering “G” Dueling Pianos event will be held at Joliet Catholic Academy on Saturday, Jan. 24, in the Student Activity Center.

This casual night of friendship and great entertainment is something you don’t want to miss.

Cost is $25 per person. There will be light food and a cash bar. Raffles of one ticket for $5 or six for $20 can be purchased and a 50/50 drawing will be held. The winner of the 50/50 raffle must be in attendance. There will be open seating, or tables of 8-10 may be reserved with pre-payment.

Dueling Pianos is an all-request show – a sing-along, clap-along, dance-along extravaganza. Cocktails will be served beginning at 6 p.m. and the Dueling Pianos will be from 8-11:30 p.m.
