Shetina named Rotary Student of the Month

Joliet Catholic Academy is proud to announce their March Rotary Club of Joliet Student of the Month Taylor Shetina.

With a GPA of 3.77 on a 4.0 scale, Shetina’s favorite subject is English (British Literature). She is a member of the Honors Program, A Honor Roll, National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta (Math National Honor Society).

Shetina is a Carmelite-Franciscan Scholarship recipient, captain of the Varsity Dance Team, a JCA Student Ambassador, and a member of the Spanish, Leo and Red Cross clubs. She received special recognition in dance by being named a 2015 All-American Dancer.

Shetina is the daughter of Dana Shetina of Joliet and a member of Grace Methodist church.

She participated in the Catholic Heart Work Camp mission trip and is involved in tutoring, Meals on Wheels, Daybreak Center, Ronald McDonald House, and Habitat for Humanity.

When asked about her high school experience Shetina commented, “I have worked very hard to prepare myself for college, but I owe my success to the empowerment from JCA and all of the teachers who have paved the way for my future.”

After graduation in the spring, Shetina plans to attend the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign or Bradley University as a sports communication major with a minor in social media marketing. In the future, she hopes to pursue a career as a sports broadcaster.
