JCA announces April Students of the Month

Congratulations to JCA’s April Students of the Month: Jessica Simon (Kiwanis Club), Luke Phelan (Rotary Club), and Michael Kelley (Lions Club).

Jessica Simon, daughter of Joseph and Diane Simon, has been named the Kiwanis Club Student of the Month. Simon currently holds a 4.67 G.P.A. on a 5.0 scale. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (Math National Honor Society), an Illinois State Scholar, and a four-year member of the JCA Honors Program. Simon, also a member of JCA girls volleyball’s back-to-back IHSA State Finals runner-ups, will attend Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD on a volleyball scholarship. She will major in biology and hopes to attend graduate school to earn her doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Luke Phelan, the Rotary Club Student of the Month.

Luke Phelan, son of Jeffrey and Julie Phelan, has been named the Rotary Club Student of the Month. Phelan holds a 3.85 G.P.A. and is a member of JCA’s “A” Honor Roll. A four-year member of the JCA football program, Phelan was a two-year starter and named to the East Suburban All-Conference team in 2015. Phelan will attend Augustana College in Rock Island, IL, where he will play football. He plans to major in business, and is currently undecided on his future occupational plans.

Michael Kelley, the Lions Club Student of the Month.

Michael Kelley III, son of Michael, Jr. and Kristin Kelley, has been named the Lions Club Student of the Month. Kelley currently holds a 4.2 G.P.A. and is a member of the National Honor Society. He has been a four-year member of the JCA baseball program, a member of Varsity Club and Student Council, and an intramural basketball participant. Michael volunteers his time at St. Raymond’s parish and with St. Ray’s baseball. He’s also volunteers at St Joe’s baseball, where he serves as an umpire. He enjoys anything involving sports, coaching younger kids, and being around friends. He plans to attend the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana where he will potentially major in business.
