JCA Announces September Students of the Month

Joliet Catholic Academy President/Principal Dr. Jeffrey Budz is proud to announce the September Students of the Month: Madalyn Bauer (Kiwanis Club), Bennett Smith (Rotary Club), and Madeline Blotnik (Lions Club). JCA is proud of the success these senior students have exhibited both in the classroom and out in the community.

Madalyn Bauer – Kiwanis Club Student of the Month

Madalyn Bauer, daughter of Robert and Laurie Bauer, is JCA’s Kiwanis Club September Student of the Month. Madalyn has been an Honor Roll student each of her previous six semesters at JCA and currently carries a 4.15 G.P.A. She was the junior class Student Council President, and currently serves as the Senior Class President and Executive Board President. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Respect Life Club, Student Ambassadors, and the Hillzone. In addition, Madalyn is a three-time IHSA state qualifier in girls tennis for the Angels, and two-time sectional champion. She currently serves as the girls varsity tennis team captain. She recently received a Rotary Leadership nominee, and has been a top JCA Spirit Raffle seller. Madalyn plans to attend either Ohio State University, the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Kansas University, or Alabama State, where she will study Supply Chain Management with a minor in Entrepreneurialship.

Bennett Smith – Rotary Club Student of the Month

Bennet Smith, son of Jim and Kathy Smith, is JCA’s September Student of the Month for Rotary Club. Bennett is a member of National Honor Society, Student Ambassadors, and International Thespian Society and currently carries a 4.17 G.P.A. He is a member of the boys varsity tennis team at JCA, and also heavily involved in JCA’s Drama Club. He has appeared in numerous JCA Drama productions including the Fall Play and Spring Musical over the last few years. Bennett also was selected to perform this past summer in the North Central College Summer Show. Bennett plans on attending the University of Illinois at Champaign, majoring in Theatre and Spanish. His future occupational or professional interests involve acting and singing.

Madeline Blotnik – Lions Club Student of the Month

Madeline Blotnik, daughter of Steven and Kathryn Blotnik, is JCA’s Lions Club September Student of the Month. She currently carries a 4.29 G.P.A. and has been a member of JCA’s Honor Roll in each of her previous six semesters. Madeline is a member of National Honors Society, Spanish National Honors Society, Key Club, Leo Club, Student Ambassadors, and Student Council. Last year she was chosen to represent JCA at the Rotary Leadership Conference. She has also been a member of the varsity girls soccer and cross country teams since her freshman year, and currently serves as a captain in both programs. Madeline has been active in Three Rivers Soccer Club and also has volunteered at Hopefully Tails Animal Rescue. Madeline plans on attending the University of Kentucky, Michigan State University, or Carthage College where she hopes to play soccer. She is planning on majoring in English Education with a Spanish minor, in hopes to one day become a high school or grade school teacher.
