Joliet Catholic Academy announces December Students of the Month

Joliet Catholic Academy is proud to announce its December Students of the Month: Joshua Lemke (Kiwanis Club), Claire Allgood (Lions Club), Alexander Khater (Rotary Club), and Chris Sherman (Exchange Club).

Joshua Lemke, son of Michael and Carolyn Lemke, currently holds a 4.58 adjusted GPA and is the Kiwanis Club Student of the Month. Lemke is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. He has earned medals in Physics and World History, as well as certificates of achievement in English II, English III, U.S. History and Band in his classes at JCA. He also served as a captain in the JCA cross-country program. Lemke plans on attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he’ll study electrical engineering. He aspires to specialize in power systems and go on to work as a power systems engineer.

Claire Allgood, daughter of Scott and Donna Allgood, currently holds a 4.50 GPA and is the Lions Club Student of the Month. Allgood is a member of National Honor Society, National Latin Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. She is a also a member of the girls varsity tennis program, 41-88 (JCA’s Art and Literary Magazine), Science Club, and Student Ambassadors. Allgood is the co-president of National Latin Honor Society and co-editor of 41-88. She’s earned medals of achievement in Latin I, Latin II, and Music Theory at JCA. Allgood was also honored with a certificate for the Bernice L. Fox Writing Contest, was a State Latin Qualifier in 2014, and earned a Certificate of Honorable Merit for the National Latin Exam. In her spare time outside of school she serves as a kennel worker at Animal Care Center in Plainfield. Allgood plans on attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she’ll major in biology of animal science with hopes to become a veterinarian.

Alexander Khater, son of Russ and Susan Khater, currently holds a 4.35 GPA and is the Rotary Club Student of the Month. Khater is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, French National Honor Society, and the French and Science Clubs at JCA. He was a Bronze Medalist in the National French Contest in 2015, and has earned certificates of outstanding accomplishment in International Relations and Theology classes while at JCA. Outside of school, he is a member of the Joliet Jets Swim Team, volunteers as a swim instructor at the YMCA, and received the Joliet Alliance for Youth 2016 Student of Excellence Award. He is currently undecided on which college he will attend, but plans on majoring in computer science.

Chris Sherman, son of Tom and Lori Sherman, currently holds a 4.66 GPA and is the Exchange Club Student of the Month. Sherman is the president of National Honor Society at JCA, and is also a member of the National Spanish Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. He is also a member of the boys varsity tennis program, Science Club, Spanish Club, Math Team, and Student Ambassadors at JCA. Sherman was recently named an Illinois State Scholar and in his spare time he does private tutoring and provides tutoring and homework assistance at St. Mary Nativity in Joliet. He is currently undecided on which college he will attend, but plans to study either computer engineering or computer science.
