JCA announces November Students of the Month

Joliet Catholic Academy President/Principal Dr. Jeffrey Budz is proud to announce the November Students of the Month: Skylar Duensing (Kiwanis Club), Julius Quilarto (Rotary Club), Sarah Nahas (Lions Club), and Macaire Kelley (Exchange Club). JCA is proud of the success these students have exhibited both in the classroom and out in the community.

Skylar Duensing, son of Mr. and Mrs. Shannon and Donna Duensing, currently carries a 4.27 GPA in JCA Honors classes. Duensing is a member of the JCA “A” Honor Roll, National Honor Society, founder and president of the JCA Bible Study Group, founder and president of the Chicago Quarterback Club, a member of the varsity football team, president of Patriots Society, a Kairos retreat leader, and a National Beta Club member. Duensing is currently undecided on which university he will attend, but plans to major in political science and economics/business while playing football.

Julius Quilarto, son of Norman and Mary Ann Quilarto, currently carries a 4.92 GPA in JCA Honors and Advanced Placement courses. Quilarto is a member of National Honor Society and French National Honor Society. He is also a member of Key Club, Leo Club, and Student Council. He is active at his local parish, St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Romeoville, and volunteers at Catholic Heart Workcamp. Quilarto is undecided on his college choice, but plans on majoring in political science or criminology with plans on becoming a prosecuting attorney.

Sarah Nahas, daughter of Stephen and Rebecca Nahas, currently carries a 4.72 GPA in the JCA Honors Program. Nahas is a member of National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. She also is a member of the following clubs and activities: Habit for Humanity, Respect Life Club, Student Council executive branch vice president, HillZone leader, and Varsity Club. Nahas was a two-year varsity volleyball team captain and has also been active in UNO club volleyball and volunteering in the Miracle League. She will attend LaSalle University on a Division-I scholarship for volleyball with plans to study nursing and become an orthopedic physician’s assistant.

Macaire Kelley, daughter of Michael and Kristin Kelley, currently carries a 4.82 GPA in JCA Honors and Advanced Placement classes. Kelley is a member of National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and National Spanish Honor Society. She also is a member of Key and Leo Club, Student Council, Student Ambassadors, Habitat for Humanity, Varsity Club, and volunteers with the Miracle League of Joliet. Kelley has also been a two-year member of the JCA varsity volleyball and girls soccer programs. Sheis currently undecided on her college choice, but plans on studying English.
