Intramurals

The purpose of Joliet Catholic Academy’s intramural program is to give students the opportunity to be involved and participate in athletics and activities without the stress of tryouts and competition. Intramural sports are held throughout the year on Sundays.

Currently, JCA offers a basketball season for both boys and girls that runs for five weeks in the winter, featuring four weeks of pool-play games in the regular season and ending with a week-long playoff tournament. Dodgeball, racquetball, mini-golf, Frisbee golf and floor hockey also have been offered as intramural sports, depending on the interest level.

The most successful intramural sport at JCA has been flag football. The 2011 team, guided by Tony Giese as head coach and offensive coordinator and Jared Voss as defensive coordinator, defeated Oak Park-River Forest 18-13 for the state championship. The 34-team flag football team is sponsored by the Chicago Bears, the title game is played at Halas Hall and the winners were honored at halftime at Soldier Field.

Jake Jaworski, the Intramurals Moderator for JCA, is always looking for suggestions. One of the ideas in the planning stages is hosting a co-ed volleyball tournament. Jaworski can be reached at 815.741.0500, ext. 293 or email jjaworski@jca-online.org.
