Campus Ministry
Campus Ministry exists to
foster the faith development of the
Campus Ministry aims to create and maintain a Catholic based atmosphere of faith and concern within the school community. JCA concentrates on enhancing a mature belief system in the context of one's high school journey, and prepares students for fuller participation in parish and family life. The Campus Ministry Office provides a variety of ministries and programs:
Retreat Experiences – Freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors are required to participate in annual day(s) of renewal. Retreat requirement can be found in JCA's Parent-Student Handbook.
Liturgical
Experiences –
JCA opens its school year with a Eucharistic Liturgy. Liturgies are celebrated
weekly in the chapel, on holy days, and in acknowledgment of important
celebrations within our community such as the fest of St. Francis of
Peer Ministry – The Campus Ministry Office sponsor the Liturgy Committee and Liturgy Sub-Committee, groups of students trained to prepare and lead liturgical occasions. These young men and women will include those who serve as lectors and Eucharistic minister. The Social Concerns group also works with the Campus Ministry Office.
Reconciliation – Students participate in Reconciliation services during the holy seasons of Advent and Lent. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available during those seasons as well. Students wishing to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation outside of Advent or Lent may approach any pries on staff and make an appointment, or see a Campus Minister who will assist them. Reconciliation is also offered as part of some of the retreat experiences.
Christian
Service – Our
experience as a faith community bring us to view service to others as a
critical thread of education, our Gospel witness, and our lives. All student
are expected to fulfill the Christian Service Requirements as defined in JCA's Parent Student Handbook.
