A Special Window of Opportunity Will Soon Be Gone
Unique provisions in the tax law provide a soon expiring incentive for older individuals to make charitable gifts directly from their traditional IRAs to charitable organizations, like Joliet Catholic Academy, and pay no tax on the distribution. The new law was passed as part of the Pensions Protection Act in August, 2006. It allows individuals over age 70½ to gift up to $100,000 to charity directly from their IRA accounts. This special charitable incentive is set to expire on December 31, 2007 creating a limited and soon closing window of opportunity to make a year-end charitable gift directly from an IRA account.
In order to take advantage of this window of opportunity, you must meet the following requirements:
You are age 70½;
You own a traditional IRA account; and
You must act before December 31, 2007
If you fit these criteria, this could be a fantastic tax benefit to you while helping our students at Joliet Catholic Academy.
