Handbells, Tapestry and Vocal Ensemble give great performances

JCA students perform with handbells during the school's annual Spring Concert.

JOLIET – Under the direction of music teacher Joyce Kelstrom, Joliet Catholic Academy recently held its annual Spring Concert in the Student Activity Center.

The overall theme was music favorites from Broadway, Disney, pop artists, classical and the movies. Highlighted were performances from five handbell groups – two beginning groups, one intermediate group and one advanced group – and the Handbell Club.

“The Handbell Club is composed of seniors who come in during their lunch period and eighth period to ring because they like to,” Kelstrom said. “This is the first year JCA has had a Handbell Club.”

One of the musical highlights was the combined Handbell Club playing, Tapestry singing and Kelstrom playing the handbell solo on “My Heart Will Go On” from “Titanic” and “The Prayer” by Celine Dion.

Tapestry members are Carmella Bolin, Lauren Faber, Simone Jones, Kennedy Lees, Mackenzie Muha, Lauren Reeves, Molly Whalen and Meagan Williams.

Vocal Ensemble members are Melissa Bruggeman, Kirsten Carlson, Lauren Faber, Rafael Garcia, Emily Gorski, Ashley Laverdiere, Liz Minarich, Jessi Pettenuzzo, Cailea Styx and Damian Wahl.

Advanced Handbells are Darrien Burks, Kelsey Fenske, Mark Kozlar, Allie Lopez, Morgan Schrage and Bobby Seidel.  Intermediate Handbells are Sarah Adler, Cody Beck, Tim Brociek, Sean Chamberlain, Sydney Earl, Forest Erickson, Kristanie Hambrick, Grant Harrison, Harley Hutchison, Jameison Jamnik, Michael Kaminski, Caroline Knorr, Dana Koerner, Maddy Mutz, Viktor Nusbaumer, Ryan Peter, Erin Piercy, Brock Pluth, Morgan Reardon, Craig Slowik and Jordyn Zembruski.

Handbells I are Maddy Barbic, Zachary Bell, Kasie Brick, Mary Bui, Megan Byrd, Dirk Doden, Kelsie Jevitz, Lauren Kelley, Chloe Korst, Chris Korst, Justin Malec, Ryan Maloney, Joe McNulty, Thomas Meyer, Erin Patrick, Calvin Placher, Kristina Powers, Daniel Randich, Zachary Rezin, Ellie Roth and Alanna Wahl.

Handbells II are Caroline Bender, Taylor Charley, Nina Clevinger, Taylor Elmore, Tyler Falk, Victoria Ford, Ashley Givhens, Sarah Gottardo, Nick Gulas, Ryan Hippman, Justin Hunter, Max Jankowski, Adolfo Juarez, Sam Juveland, Johnny Kalisik, Brandon Kaminski, Tyler Landeck, Rebecca Michalak, Nathan Naal, JC Wagner and Danny Weis.
