Alum Major General Martin Whelan to visit JCA

Joliet Catholic Academy is honored to welcome Major General Martin Whelan, class of 1980, in honor of Veteran’s Day. Maj. Gen. Whelan will join us on campus on Tuesday, November 13th to address the student body. There will be an all-school assembly starting at 9:10 a.m. During his visit, he plans to share with students the ways Joliet Catholic helped lay the foundation for his future, his career experiences, and speak about his current role with the United States Air Force. Maj. Gen. Whelan will take time to answer questions from students as well as spend some time with some students on a smaller scale for a question and answer session.

Maj. Gen. Martin Whelan is Director of Requirements, Headquarters Air Force Space Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. He is responsible for helping define the future of space and cyberspace systems through requirements definition, mission area architecture and science and technology in support of the joint warfighter, Department of Defense, civil and national users. Moving through the ranks throughout his career, Maj. Gen. Whelan was most recently promoted in April 2012 from Brigadier General to Major General.
