December students of the month

Joliet Catholic Academy is happy to announce its December students of the month; Laura Gillespie (Kiwanis Club of Joliet), Michael Kaminski (Joliet Noon Lions Club), and Hunter Warning (Rotary Club of Joliet).

Laura is the daughter of Patricia and Gordon Gillespie Jr. She is ranked 3rd in her class and is an Illinois State Scholar. She is highly involved on campus as a member of the math team and Key Club and also taking on leadership roles as Mu Alpha Theta secretary, National Honors Society secretary, National Spanish Honors Society secretary, and Scholastic Bowl co-captain. After high school, Laura plans to enter a pre-med program and major in Biology.

Michael is the son of Joy and Michael Kaminski.  Michael carries a 4.81 weighted GPA on a 5.0 scale and ranks 4th in his class. He is a member of the National Honors Society, National Spanish Honors Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and has been recognized as an Illinois State Scholar. Michael is also Vice President of Spanish Club, Vice President of Varsity Club, Head Anchor for WJCA, an officer of the Respect Life Club, a member of the Math Team, Student Ambassadors, and Scholastic Bowl. He also played football for three years and volleyball for all four. Outside of school, Michael has interned for Illinois Victory Political Committee and is a Youth Council Member for Tom Cross’s District 84. Post high school plans include attending either the University of San Diego or Stanford and majoring in international business or Political Science.

Hunter is the son of Meg and Keith. He boasts a 3.74 GPA on a 4.0 scale and list his favorite subject as English. Hunter is a member of academic honor societies Mu Alpha Theta, National Honors Society, National Spanish Honors Society, and has been recognized as an Illinois State Scholar. He is also a Student Ambassador, a member of Varsity Club, WJCA, Student Council, and has been President of his class for four years. He runs cross country and plays volleyball at JCA. After high school, Hunter plans to attend Northwestern University and major in Journalism.
