Young alum success stories

Our young alums have been very busy! Check out these awesome updates!

Chris Sarcletti is a 1992 graduate of JCA and a 1996 graduate of the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. He currently works at CME Group (the Chicago Mercantile Exchange) in downtown Chicago on the Business Continuity Management Team focusing on Risk Management, Crisis Management and Disaster Recovery. When he’s not working, Chris enjoys writing and traveling with his wife, Ivy. He maintains a blog, SeeLiveEat.com and has recently published his first book, See, Live, Eat:  Globetrotting with a Fork and a Conscience.

Dr. Nick Polyak (’95) has been named the next superintendent of Leyden High School District 212 effective on July 1, 2013. He is currently the superintendent of Illinois Valley Central School District #321 near Peoria, IL. He has served the district in many roles including: math teacher, coach of boys’ soccer and tennis, dean of students, assistant principal and Director of Instruction and staff development.

Nicholas Testin (’04) graduated from Elmhurst College in 2009 with a degree in Exercise Science. He attended graduate school at Midwestern University and graduated in May 2012 with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT). In June, Nick was hired by Athletico Physical Therapy and currently works out of the Aurora, IL branch where he specializes in video overhead throwing analysis.

Allie Quigley (’04) has signed a pre-season contract with the WNBA’s Chicago Sky. She was a Joliet Catholic Academy Girls’ Basketball standout and a collegiate All-America pick at DePaul. She has spent time playing overseas in the Euroleague and will return to participate in training camp.

Sam Quigley (’06) was an  all-state performer at JCA, recently finished up an outstanding career- academically and athletically- at DePaul University, and has recently embarked upon a career as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at the University of St. Francis.

Nick Clancy (’08) recently signed an NFL free agent contract with the Atlanta Falcons. Nick played football for Boston College with an incredible senior year. He was the nation’s 3rd leading tackler.

Brett Rocheleau (’09) is the Student Body President at the University of Notre Dame, double majoring in Finance and Applied Math. He has been involved in Student Government at Notre Dame since his freshman serving as Class Treasurer, Sophomore Class President and more recently as Student Body Vice President.

Danielle Reilly (’09), daughter of JCA employee Sue Reilly, was recently honored by the Crossroads League for her red-hot softball skills as Player of the Week. Having been a three-year varsity starter during her time at JCA, she continued her career at Bethel University. During her freshman year, she made it to the elite 8 of the NAIA Nationals and received the Rookie of the Year Award for the Pilots.

Alyssa Warren (’10) was named Seton Hall Junior Female Athlete of the Year. From her libero position, Warren anchored a stout defense for a Pirate team that posted its highest win total since 2003. She set a new school record and led the Big East with 659 digs on the season, leading to a host of postseason honors that included Big East Libero of the Year (first in school history) and a Second Team All-Big East selection. Her 42 digs at Connecticut and 40 digs at Villanova were the top two single-match performances in the conference for 2012 and she finished the year ranked seventh nationally with a 5.88 digs per set average.

Seth Peyla (’11) has been accepted to Pembroke College at Oxford University. Peyla was a standout student here at JCA, and was co-valedictorian of his class. Pelya was a member of the JCA Honors Program, A Honor Roll, Spanish National Honor Society (president), National Honor Society (vice president), Mu Alpha Theta math honor society and the National Society of High School Scholars. He was a student ambassador and a member of the Student Council (vice president), 41-88 Art & Literary Magazine, Varsity Scholastic Bowl, Spanish Club, varsity tennis team and varsity cross country team.
