FINE ARTS, AN IMPORTANT PART OF HIGH SCHOOL

JCA_IMG 105Joliet Catholic Academy believes that the arts are an important part of the high school experience. The arts make a real contribution to the intellectual, expressive, emotional and creative growth of a person.

Angels and Hillmen are required to earn credits for graduation in both Art and Music. JCA offers students a wide a variety of Fine Arts subjects including:  2-D Design, 3-D Design, Band, Computer Design, Drawing and Painting, Graphic Design, English Handbells, Guitar, Jewelry and Weaving, Music Appreciation, Music Theory, Pottery, Studio Art, Tapestry, Theatre Arts, Vocal Singing Skills, and World Music.

JCA_IMG 016The Art Department features student work in the hallway just outside of the art rooms, and a special Art Exhibit is conducted in the spring, which is open to the public. Angels and Hillmen have the opportunity to submit artwork to local and regional contests. Students also can assist with artistic projects in the school throughout the year.JCA_IMG 106

JCA’s Music Department recognizes the obligation to provide for the growth of Angels and Hillmen on an intellectual and aesthetic level. The department provides varied musical experiences geared to enrich the lives of all students and enable them to think critically and communicate effectively through music.out the year.

JCA_IMG 001Band and Tapestry may be repeated as often as desired since they are performing groups. There is one major concert each semester with additional field trips and performances. Students are given the opportunity to enter district festivals as well as solo and ensemble contests. These groups also perform at school functions including Mass, Graduation and Step-Up Day.
