Girls Volleyball takes first place at Geneva Tournament

JCA_IMG 168The JCA varsity won the Geneva Tournament for the eighth straight year with a 20-25, 25-21, 25-15 victory over the host Vikings. The Angels improved to 7-1, also beating the Geneva JV (a replacement for Batavia) 25-6, 25-16, ACC 25-15, 25-2…1, DeKalb 25-19, 25-18 and Burlington Central 25-20, 25-15. Julia Shemaitis led JCA with 29 kills, 35 points, 25 digs and 6 block kills. Madeline Grimm added 27 kills, while Mary Murphy had 19 kills, 49 assists, 23 points and 30 digs and Mallory Krzysciak contributed 26 points and 24 digs. Maddie Naal and Angela Vera combined for 13 block kills and Miranda Rodriguez had 33 assists. Nicole Witmer, Ysamar Lozano and freshman Taylor Zurliene each chalked up their first varsity kills.
