Murphy named Most Impressive Player

JCA Class of 2008 alum Kelly Murphy has been busy on the volleyball court for Team USA.

She was recently named the Most Impressive Player in a volleyball match versus Turkey. The award is named for Lella Pavarotti, an Italian volleyball champion in the 1950s, who died last year; she is also the younger sister of tenor Luciano Pavarotti, both were born in Modena.

In 2013, Murphy was named Most Valuable Player and Best Spiker of the 2013 NORCECA Women’s Continental Championship after leading Team USA to gold medal. As a rookie, she led U.S. Women in scoring during 2013 with 314 points. With a  3.53 scoring average, Murphy was tops among players with 50 percent of sets played in 2013. She finished the 2013 FIVB World Grand Prix preliminary round ranked second in Best Spiker with a 45.0 kill percent.
