Pet Blessing and Block Party held at JCA

JCA’s Heritage / Homecoming Week block party included a special pet blessing in honor the school’s Franciscan tradition. Blessing pets near the feast of St. Francis of Assisi when students, parents, and alumni are gathered together is a great way to honor the school’s heritage and spirituality.

St. Francis had a great love for animals and would have enjoyed interacting with them during the blessing, which was celebrated by Sr. Barb Kwiatkowski, OSF and Fr. Jeff Smialek, O.Carm.

In addition to the pet blessing, the block party included a barbecue sponsored by the JCA Parent Association, an inflatable slide, a bouncy, an opportunity to test your strength, corn toss games, and more.

Representatives from the entire JCA family were in attendance and a good time was had by all.

The fun doesn’t stop there. The Parent Association will host a Tailgate Party for JCA students Friday after school and a Parents Homecoming Night Out on Saturday at Traditions Restaurant & Pub (located inside the Joliet Park District) beginning at 7 p.m.

JCA parents are asked to provide the items listed below for the tailgate party. Items can be dropped off in JCA’s Main Office.
Freshmen:  Desserts (the grab and go kind)
Sophomores: Chips (box of single serving bags)
Juniors and Seniors: Case of Water

Questions regarding the student tailgate party or parents night out should be directed to Diana at 815-693-6263 or Jalayne at 815-999-2360.
