Safe Environment Training for Students

Sustain JCA Logo

Joliet Catholic Academy will be conducting the mandated Safe Environment Training for Joliet Catholic Academy students during the week of January 5, 2015. Instruction for freshmen and sophomores will be provided by the Will County States Attorney. The program provides Internet Safety information to our students by Detective Rich Wysocki and is approved by the Diocese of Joliet. Juniors and seniors will be using a program that was developed by the Diocese of Orange (California) called Breaking the Silence.  In this video experts and teenagers sit down to discuss some of the myths surrounding abuse as well as best practices for remaining safe.

Parents and guardians who do not wish for their child to participate should complete a release form and return it to their child’s Theology teacher before January 6. Forms can be mailed or faxed to the school (815.741.8825) over Christmas break. For a release form, click here.

Questions regarding safe environment training  should be directed to Joe Burke, Theology Department Chair, or Kathy Major, Guidance Department Chair, at 815.741.0500 or jburke@jca-online.org and/or  kmajor@jca-online.org respectively.
