Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce honors top seniors

The Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce recognized and celebrated April 20 the top 25 seniors from each of the three Joliet high schools at the eighth annual Top Student Banquet.

The chamber’s Education Committee annually honors the best and brightest from Joliet Central, Joliet West and Joliet Catholic Academy.

The Top Student Banquet was sponsored by many area business with the main sponsors the Joliet service clubs: Joliet Exchange Club, Joliet Kiwanis, Joliet Lions, and the Rotary Club of Joliet.

Mark Griglione, event chairman and emcee, said the program began eight years ago when the Education Committee was formed. The committee hopes to continue the banquet for years to come. Girglione co-chairs the Education Committee with Joliet Township High School Superintendent Cheryl McCarthy.

Seventy-five students received awards from their respective school administrators, along with proclamations from state Sens, Pat McGuire and Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, and State Reps. Larry Walsh Jr. and Natalie Manley.

Joliet Catholic Academy’s Top 25 included: Robert Babich, Margaret Bannon, Maxwell Brzostowski, Matthew Chignoli, Joseph Chignoli, Emily Demick, Michael Dow, Marguerite Ernst, Joseph Frescura, Francesca Gingoyon-Embrey, Aron Goeken, Molly Gunning, Chase Krumviede, Jacey Lambert, Alexandra Mihalakakos, Anne Mihelich, Laura Nalepka, Megan Paolucci, Katherine Payne, Nina Penteris, Taylor Shetina, Taylar Testin, Adriana Trizna, Adam Wahl and Jack Warning.
