Joliet Catholic Academy athletic director Dan Sharp, and girls assistant athletic director Tina Kinsella are pleased to announce that Ryan Quigley (’03) has officially joined the staff of the girls basketball program at JCA. Quigley will assist with the lower levels of the program.
Quigley brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the position, having worked years in the collegiate athletics arena. He spent the last year and a half employed by the Prep Baseball Report, the country’s leading independent amateur baseball scouting service, as the Illinois Director of Scouting, coordinating player showcases, creating online content, facilitating the recruiting process between athletes and collegiate coaching staffs, and helping to market the company through social media and other advertising avenues.
After graduating from JCA, where he was a three-year member on the Varsity Basketball team, Quigley went on to star at Saint Xavier University (’07) in baseball. He received an undergraduate degree in English with a minor in Secondary Education. He accumulated many accolades, including twice being named an ESPN Academic All-American, NAIA Region VII Pitcher of the Year, and twice earning NAIA honorable-mention All-American. Quigley finished his career at Saint Xavier second all-time in wins, strikeouts, and innings pitched.
Quigley’s decorated playing career included six years of professional baseball in the minor leagues with the San Diego Padres, Washington Nationals, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Joliet Slammers. In 2012, he led the California League in strikeouts as a reliever, and was twice named to mid-season All-Star teams.
Quigley went on to get his M.B.A in Finance from St. Xavier while serving as the team’s graduate assistant baseball coach from 2008-2010, and working as an Assistant Sports Information Director at the university. During his playing career he held numerous positions in the off-season and has worked as an English teacher at the Joliet Township High Schools, Evergreen Park High School, and Lincoln-Way East High School. He’s also provided private baseball instruction in the Joliet area for several years. He spent the 2008 and 2011 spring season’s serving as a varsity baseball assistant coach at JCA.
Quigley is a household name in the Joliet and JCA community. His two sisters, Allie and Samantha, were star multi-sport athletes at JCA and went on to star in basketball at DePaul University. Allie earned Ms. Basketball in Illinois and currently plays for the Chicago Sky in the WNBA, while Samantha is the head basketball coach at St. Francis in Joliet. His younger brother Jacob, also a JCA graduate, graduated from the University of St. Francis and is currently the Head Tennis Coach for their men’s and women’s programs. Quigley mother Christine Quigley-Strle (nee Prieboy) was an All-American basketball player at Joliet Central and the College of St. Francis. Quigley’s father Pat, played basketball at Joliet Catholic High School (’77) and the College of St. Francis. He went on to teach and coach basketball at Joliet Catholic and Lincoln-Way Central
Quigley is a graduate of St. Patrick’s Grade School in Joliet and is currently a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Joliet. He resides in Shorewood with his wife Lindsey; the couple is expecting their first child in September.
