Joliet Catholic Academy President/Principal Dr. Jeffrey Budz is proud to announce the September Students of the Month: Ryan Surin (Kiwanis Club), Simon Grashoff (Rotary Club), and Caitlyn Spreitzer (Lions Club). JCA is proud of the success these students have exhibited both in the classroom and out in the community.
Ryan Surin, son of Jack and Nancy Surin, currently carries a 4.83 GPA in JCA Honors and AP classes. Surin is a member of National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Math Team, Varsity Baseball, Varsity Golf, and Varsity Basketball. He is also a recipient of the Frank Golf Memorial Scholarship for excellence in mathematics. Surin plans on playing college baseball and is currently undecided on his collegiate choice.
Simon Grashoff, son of Arn and Denise Grashoff, currently carries a 3.67 GPA and is a member of the following clubs at JCA: National Honor Society, Respect Life, and Weather Club. Grashoff is a captain on the varsity football and varsity baseball teams. He was named to the ESCC All-Conference team in baseball, and Second Team-All Area by the Joliet Herald News in the spring of 2017. Grashoff is currently undecided on his college of choice, but intends to major in Business Management.
Caitlyn Spreitzer, daughter of David and Karen Spreitzer, currently carries a 4.96 GPA in JCA Honors and AP classes. Spretizer is currently a member of the following clubs and honor societies: National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Math Team, Psych Club, and JCA Student Ambassadors. Spreitzer is also a member of the varsity softball and tennis programs, where she serves as a captain in the tennis program. She is also active in the Naperville Diamonds travel softball organization. She hopes to attend either the University of Chicago or Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, where she plans on majoring in Biomedical Engineering and playing softball.
