JCA announces March Students of the Month

Joliet Catholic Academy President/Principal Dr. Jeffrey Budz is pleased to announce the March Students of the Month: Nolan Byrd (Kiwanis Club), Megan Williams (Rotary Club), Luke Singletary (Lions Club), and Wally Osterberger (Exchange Club). JCA is proud of the success these students have exhibited both in the classroom and out in the community.

Nolan Byrd

Nolan Byrd, son of Stephen and Kathleen Byrd, currently carries a 4.81 GPA in JCA Honors and Advanced Placement classes. Byrd has accumulated the following honors during his JCA career: Ronald Reagan Student Leadership Award recipient, Illinois State Scholar, National Honor Society member, Spanish National Honor Society member, Mu Alpha Theta member, varsity letter in volleyball, Sociology medal, World History certificate, Computer Applications certificate, Health certificate, and AP United States History certificate. Byrd plans on attending either the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign or Indiana University with plans to pursue a major in finance of accounting.

Megan Williams

Megan Williams, daughter of Michael and Laurie Williams, currently carries a 4.65 GPA at JCA. Williams has been inducted into National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Math National Honor Society, Illinois State Scholars, and has been named to the High Honor Roll each of her seven semesters at JCA. Williams also is a member of the Respect Life Club, History Club, Broadcasting Club, Photography Club, Medical Science Club, and serves as a JCA Student Ambassador. In her spare time she is a member of the Parish Council at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Joliet, and also serves as the president of the advisory board and peer minister for FOLLOW Youth Ministry. Williams plans on attending either Bradley University or Olivet Nazarene University to major in nursing.

Luke Singletary

Luke Singletary, son of Bart and Tiffany Singletary, currently carries a 4.46 GPA in JCA Honors and Advanced Placement classes. Singletary has been inducted into National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and National Art Honor Society. He is also a member of the Respect Life Club and is a member of the JCA varsity wrestling and soccer programs. Outside of school he has been active in the Plainfield Lions Club and Timbers Assisted Living Facility. He enjoys hunting and fishing in his spare time. Singletary plans on attending the University of Iowa or the University of Illinois to major in mechanical engineering.

Walter Osterberger

Walter Osterberger, son of Thomas and Domenica Osterberger, currently carries a 4.93 GPA in JCA Honors and Advanced Placement classes. Osterberger has earned the following honors over his four years at JCA: highest GPA (freshman year), World History medal for academic excellence, PE Award, English II medal for academic excellence, AP Biology medal for academic excellence, Ronald Reagan Student Leadership Award, Spanish National Honor Society (currently serving as president), and National Honor Society. He has also been a four-year member of the varsity golf team, a two-time captain of Scholastic Bowl, four-year member of Student Council (currently serving as Executive Board treasurer), and member of the JV volleyball and freshman basketball teams. Osterberger will attend the University of Notre Dame and study history.
