JCA announces 2019 Illinois State Scholars

Joliet Catholic Academy is proud to announce that 22 members of the Class of 2019 have been named Illinois State Scholars. The State Scholar Program recognizes students attending approved high schools for outstanding academic achievement. State scholar designation provides honorary recognition with no monetary award. Approximately the top ten percent of graduates from approved high schools are announced as State Scholars each year.

JCA President/Principal Dr. Jeffrey Budz said, “We are so proud of our 22 students who obtained Illinois State Scholar status.  As I look at the group, as many of our JCA students can say, they are well accomplished outside the classroom also, but overall they are great kids who represent their families, their school and themselves very well.”

The following JCA students were named Illinois State Scholars: Alissa Araneta of Romeoville, Peyton Buss of Plainfield, Elise Carlson of Joliet, Maxwell Cullen of Joliet, Reese Hafner of Joliet, Katherine Jorgensen of Newark, Julia Khater of Joliet, Jennifer Krizka of Joliet, Sophie Krzysciak of Minooka, Emily Morrissette of Manhattan, John Nash of Channahon, Megan Ortinau of Joliet, Michael Payne of Plainfield, Sarah Piper of Channahon, Sydney Pucel of Plainfield, Wyatt Simpson of Elwood, Jack Smith of Bolingbrook, Matthew Trizna of Joliet, Cordelia Wagner of Joliet, Connor Ward of Joliet, Kurt Weis of Plainfield, and Kylie Weis of Plainfield.
