Empower Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Application Reminders
Reservation Opens Tuesday, January 15 at 7 p.m.
It is almost time for families to begin the application process for the 2019-2020 school year. Visit the Empower Illinois website for helpful resources to assist families with the application process, including step-by-step application instructions in English and Spanish .
The application is best supported by the most recent version of Google Chrome .
- Part one of the application will be available at empowerillinois.org on January 15, 2019 at 7 p.m. *If you arrive to the website before 7 p.m. continue to hit refresh on your browser until the application pops up.
- #ApplicationTips: Time Stamps. Step one of the application process is the reservation step. This part is time sensitive, as your time stamp will be used to determine your place in line to receive a scholarship. Make sure you understand how the reservation process works! Here’s what you need:
1. Your name
2. Your contact information
3. The names of ALL of your children that will be applying
- Families will receive an email to access part two of the application on January 18, 2019 through their new portal on empowerXchange.
- Everyone must reapply, including those who received a scholarship for the 2018-2019 school year and those currently on the waitlist.
- Families are encouraged to complete part two before January 28, 2019 for the best chance of receiving a scholarship. If a family does not submit their application before January 28, another applicant may receive a scholarship before them, even if the family has reserved a place in line in front of them.
About the Invest In Kids Act:
The State of Illinois has created a new way to fund scholarships for children who choose to attend Catholic schools through the “Invest in Kids Act.” Scholarships offered through this program have the potential to cover up to 100 percent of tuition and eligible charges for next school year at Joliet Catholic Academy.
