JCA announces April Students of the Month

Joliet Catholic Academy President/Principal Dr. Jeffrey Budz is pleased to announce the April Students of the Month: Joshua Bolek (Kiwanis Club), Matthew Trizna (Rotary Club), and Kylie Weis (Lions Club). JCA is proud of the success these students have exhibited both in the classroom and out in the community.

Joshua Bolek, son of John and Tiffany Bolek, currently holds a 3.57 GPA at JCA. Bolek was a Patrick Quigley Scholarship Award recipient, earned an Academic Excellence in History Award his junior year, and was also a two-year member of the Hilltopper varsity baseball team. He plans to attend Illinois State University to major in Computer Science with a minor in Business.

Matthew Trizna, son of Jim and Maureen Trizna, currently holds a 4.78 GPA in JCA Honors classes. Trizna has been honored as an Illinois State Scholar, National Honor Society member, Mu Alpha Theta member, National English Honor Society member, and National Spanish Honor Society member. He was also honored at the Joliet Chamber Top 25 Student Banquet, honoring the top 25 students from Joliet area high schools. Trizna was a four-year member of the Hilltopper football program and also participated in basketball for two years. He serves as a JCA student ambassador, member of Key/Leo club, ski club, bass fishing club, and ping pong club. Trinza will attend Catholic University of America to play football and study engineering.

Kylie Weis, daughter of Dwayne and Jalayne Weis, currently holds a 5.12 GPA in JCA Honors and AP classes. Weis was recently named JCA’s 2019 Valedictorian. She is an Illinois State Scholar, National Merit Commended Scholar, was awarded highest GPA at JCA during her freshman, sophomore, and junior years, and also scored a 35 on her ACT. Weis is also a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Tr-M Music Honor Society. She also participates in student council, music ministry as a flute instrumentalist, and is a member of the JCA varsity tennis program. In her spare time Weis volunteers for the Fraternal Order of Police. Weis will attend Auburn University and major in biotechnology or genetic engineering.
