Freshman Welcome Mass and Freshman Orientation Information

Class of 2023,
 
We look forward to seeing you and your family for our Freshman Mass, Parent Meeting and Picnic this Sunday, August 18 at 5:00 p.m. in the Student Activity Center. Please enter along the Ingalls Ave. doors. Please plan for the Mass and Meeting to last a couple of hours with the picnic to follow. Younger siblings are welcome to attend, please just know the length of the evening’s agenda.
 
Spirit Shop : The Spirit Shop will be open from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18 and then from 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on August 19 and 20. Remember that locks for lockers must be purchased through the JCA spirit shop only. In addition, students taking gym will need an additional lock and gym shirt.
 
Freshman Orientation Days:
 
· Freshmen are required to be in full school uniform on Monday, August 19.
· Tuesday, August 20, freshmen will be taking their school picture. An order form will go home with students on Monday.  Picture Day Dress code:  colored or patterned polo and uniform pants/shorts and shoes 
· Students should be dropped off and report to their homeroom by 7:50 a.m. both Monday and Tuesday.   
·  Freshman MUST bring their laptop with them both days. 
·  The first day of Orientation will be information for the students. On the second day of Orientation, freshmen will be able to go through their class schedule. As such, students should have their schedule, a pen and notebook on Tuesday. 
·  Pick up is 12:00 p.m. on both days.
 
School supplies:  Each teacher has different requirements regarding school supplies. During the first few days of school, your child’s teacher will communicate his/her expectations to the students. 
 
Lunch:  The first full day of school is Thursday, August 22 from 7:50 a.m. – 2:40 p.m. Students will report directly to their 1 st period class. Students may choose to bring a lunch or buy one in the cafeteria. Cash is accepted in the cafeteria.
Our food service, Quest Food, gives parents have the option of loading money onto a student’s ID to be used in the cafeteria. Quest Food will have this ready for you by the first few days of school (they are working to upload your child’s name and ID into the system). Here is additional information: https://www.jca-online.org/cafeteria/  Your student’s ID can be found on the schedule that was emailed in July.
