JCA announces February Students of the Month

Joliet Catholic Academy president/principal Dr. Jeffrey Budz is pleased to announce the February Students of the Month: Jack Carroll (Kiwanis Club), Kameron Courtright (Rotary Club), and Mia Bertino (Lions Club). JCA is proud of the success these students have exhibited both in the classroom and out in the community.

Jack Carroll, son of Thomas and Colleen Carroll, currently has a 4.74 in JCA Honors and AP classes. Carroll is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, National English Honors Society, and Mu Alpha Theta (Math NHS). He is a four-year member of the JCA “A” Honor Roll and also is a member of the JCA varsity lacrosse team. Carroll will attend the University of Missouri to study computer science.

Kameron Courtright, daughter of Ken and Kerri Courtright, currently has a 4.58 GPA in JCA Honors at AP classes. Courtright is a member of National English Honor Society, National French Honor Society, National Honor Society, and National Art Honor Society. She is president of the JCA Respect Life Club, vice president of Students for Troops, a JCA student council homeroom representative, and a member of Habitat for Humanity club. Courtright was also a member of the JCA varsity cheerleading program for three years. She plans on majoring in finance and philosophy with a career plan to become a corporate attorney. She is currently undecided on her college of choice.

Mia Bertino, daughter of Paul and Jennifer Bertino, currently has a 4.79 GPA in JCA Honors and AP classes. Bertino is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, English National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and National Art Honor Society. She is also a member of JCA Student Ambassadors, student council, Respect Life Club, and the JCA Drama Club, where she earned the lead in this year’s spring musical “Mamma Mia!”. Bertino was also a four year member of the JCA varsity tennis and basketball teams, earning 5th place at the IHSA State Tennis Tournament in 2019. She was named the ESCC Player of the Year in Tennis in 2017, 2018, and 2019 and qualified for the state tournament all four years. She also surpassed 1,000 points during her Angels basketball career. Bertino will be attending Valparaiso University on a tennis scholarship with plans to become a teacher.
