JCA announces September Students of the Month

Joliet Catholic Academy president/principal Dr. Jeffrey Budz is pleased to announce the September Students of the Month: Emma Oswalt (Kiwanis Club), Emma Jay (Rotary Club), and Nicholas Jones (Lions Club). JCA is proud of the success these students have exhibited both in the classroom and out in the community.

Emma Oswalt

Emma Oswalt, daughter of Dr. Kristopher and Dawn Oswalt of Shorewood, currently has a 5.05 GPA in JCA Honors and AP classes. Oswalt, a graduate of Trinity Christian School in Shorewood, is a member of National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (Co-President), Medical Sciences Club (President), Engineering Club (Secretary), Habitat for Humanity, JCA Student Ambassadors, Math Team, and varsity girls soccer. Oswalt also volunteers at the Morris Hospital and Healthcare Center. She plans on attending college to major in Biomedical Engineering or Biochemistry and anticipates attending medical school.

Emma Jay

Emma Jay, daughter of Joseph and Celeste Jay of Joliet, currently has a 4.99 GPA in JCA Honors and AP classes. Jay, a graduate of St. Paul the Apostle School, is a member of National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Habitat for Humanity, Victory View Student Newspaper, JCA Student Council, and JCA Student Ambassadors. She is also a four-year member of the JCA girls basketball program and captured the 2020 IHSA Class 2A Three Point Contest State Championship. Jay plans to attend college to study journalism and public policy.

Nicholas Jones

Nicholas Jones, son of Guy and Gina Jones of Plainfield, currently has a 4.73 GPA in JCA Honors and AP classes. Jones, a graduate of Holy Family Catholic Grade School, is a member of National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (Math National Honor Society), National Spanish Honor Society, Debate Team, JCA Student Council (treasurer), Debate Team, JCA Student Ambassadors, and JCA varsity tennis. Jones is active as a volunteer with the Will County Clerk’s office, The Timbers of Shorewood, and Holy Family Parish. He plans to attend the University of Dayton to study criminal justice and philosophy.
