Joliet Catholic Academy President/Principal Dr. Jeffrey Budz is pleased to announce the February Students of the Month: Daniela Chavez (Kiwanis Club), Luke Ziesmer (Rotary Club), and Luke Selinger (Lions Club). JCA is proud of the success these students have exhibited both in the classroom and out in the community.
Daniela Chavez, daughter of Yucundo Chavez and Perla-Michel Armenta of Plainfield, is a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Joliet and a graduate of Troy Middle School. She currently has a 4.79 GPA in JCA Honors and AP classes. Chavez is a member of National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, president of the National French Honor Society, vice-president of Spanish Club, and co-president of the Accepting Cultural Diversity Club. She is also a leader at her local youth group and was the recipient of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish Scholarship to attend JCA. Chavez plans to attend San Diego State University to study kinesiology or nutrition.
Luke Ziesmer, son of Max and Nikki Ziesmer of Joliet, is a member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Parish and graduate of Troy Middle School. He currently has a 4.44 GPA in JCA Honors and AP classes. He is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, captain of the JCA Scholastic Bowl Team, president of the Euchre Club, and also a member of Weather Club, HillZone, Intramural Basketball, and Ski Club. Ziesmer has been a member of the A-Honor Roll all four years of high school. He was a member of the 2021 Hilltopper Football IHSA Class 4A State Championship team, and also plays varsity baseball. He plans on majoring in Civil Engineering or Mathematics in college.
Luke Selinger, son of James and Jeannette Lynn Selinger, is a parishioner and graduate of Holy Family Parish and Grade School. He currently has a 4.59 GP in JCA Honors and AP classes. He is a member of National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, JCA Student Council, Spanish Club, and Euchre Club. He plays varsity soccer and varsity lacrosse. Selinger plans on studying Biology in college with hopes to attend Physician Assistant’s school after receiving his undergraduate degree.
