JCA announces December Students of the Month

Joliet Catholic Academy President/Principal Dr. Jeffrey Budz is pleased to announce the December Students of the Month: Anthony Birsa (Kiwanis Club), Sarah Ratajczyk (Rotary Club) and Allison McCarthy (Lions Club). JCA is proud of the success these students have exhibited both in the classroom and out in the community.
 
Allison McCarthy, daughter of Kim and Chris McCarthy of Shorewood, is a graduate of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Grade School. She is an Illinois State Scholar and member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. Allison is a member of the Tennis team, where she was All State Doubles and took 17th place in State. She was also the team captain. Allison is a member of Habitat for Humanity, Key Club, Medical Science Club, Student Council, and Student Ambassadors. Aside from all of her in-school responsibilities, Allison is Eucharistic Minister at St. Rays, Lector, and volunteers for the parishes annual Food Drive. Allison plans to be a nurse practitioner and minor in Spanish in college.
 
Sarah Ratajczyk, daughter of Maribeth Kocimski and Ronald Ratajczyk of Plainfield, is a graduate of St. Mary Immaculate School. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. Sarah is involved with the Accepting Cultural Diversity Club, the Victory View Student newspaper, where she is the co-editor, Key Club, German Club, 41-88, where she is the secretary, Spanish Club, Habitat for Humanity, and Big Buddies / Little Buddies. Sarah is an active volunteer at St. John Lutheran’s Food Pantry. She plans to attend either Southern Illinois University or John A Logan College and wants to major in Psychology ultimately becoming a Psychiatrist or Therapist.
 
Anthony Birsa, son of Molly and Andrew Birsa of Plainfield, is a graduate of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Grade School. He is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, the Math Honor Society. Anthony was all ESCC Conference in Football, was voted Orange Division Lineman of the Year, was Class 4A All-State, and was a member of the 2021 Class 4A State Championship team. Anthony has a received a scholarship and plans to play Football at Northwestern University.
