JCA Announces October Students of the Month

 

Joliet Catholic Academy President/Principal Dr. Jeffrey Budz is pleased to announce the October Students of the Month: Zoe Girard (Kiwanis Club), Samuel Kottman (Rotary Club) and Molly Vershay (Lions Club). JCA is proud of the success these students have exhibited in both the classroom and in the community.

Zoe Girard, daughter of Ronald and Erika Girard of Bolingbrook, is a graduate of All Saints Catholic Academy Grade School. Zoe is a member of the National Honor Society and National English Honors Society and has received academic awards for AP English and AP U.S. History. Zoe is a member of the Varsity Volleyball team and also plays on a club volleyball team. Outside of her school responsibilities, Zoe works at Portillo’s and enjoys volunteering at Feed My Starving Children. Zoe is committed to play volleyball at Juniata College and her future plans include attending law school.

Samuel Kottman, son of Brian and Kathleen Kottman of Joliet, is a graduate of Holy Family Grade School. He is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honors Society, National Spanish Honors Society, and the Thespian Honors Society, and is a Heritage Award and Top Scorer Scholarship recipient. Samuel has received medals and certificates of achievement in numerous subjects as well as various theatre awards. He is active in the Drama Club where he serves as President and is a member of Student Council, Student Ambassadors, Math Team, and Tech Club, as well as a member of the Varsity Tennis team. Samuel is busy outside of his school duties by volunteering at Hands of Hope and Holy Family School. Samuel is undecided on where he plans to attend college but intends on majoring in cybersecurity / computer science.

Molly Vershay, daughter of John and Tamara Vershay of Shorewood, is a graduate of St. Raymond Grade School. Molly is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honors Society, National Spanish Honors Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and National Art Honors Society. Molly has received medals and certificates of achievement in a variety of subjects. She currently serves as the Key Club Secretary and is a member of Student Ambassadors and Habitat for Humanity. In the community, Molly enjoys volunteering at Alden Estates of Shorewood Nursing Home. Molly is undecided on where she would like to attend college, but plans on majoring in English, political science or statistics. She also counts law school among her future plans.
