JCA Announces April Students of the Month

Joliet Catholic Academy President/Principal Dr. Jeffrey Budz is pleased to announce the April Students of the Month: Grace Laird (Kiwanis Club), Madison Fleck (Rotary Club) and Daniel Rouse (Lions Club). JCA is proud of the success these students have exhibited in both the classroom and in the community.

Grace Laird, daughter of Matt Laird and Rebecca Cumbee of Plainfield, is a graduate of Ira Jones Middle School. Grace is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. She is an Illinois State Scholar, AP Scholar, and Scholar Athlete for wrestling. A member of the varsity wrestling team, Grace is the first female wrestler at Joliet Catholic Academy and was the first to medal at state this year along with numerous other wrestling achievements. She is also on the varsity tennis team, is a peer tutor, and is active in Key Club as Communications Director, Student Ambassadors, Habitat for Humanity, Yearbook Club, and is the founder of the Pickleball Club. Outside of her school responsibilities, Grace is a Callan Wrestling Academy Club wrestler and a volunteer youth wrestling coach. After graduation, Grace plans to attend the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. She plans to study marketing and international business.

Madison Fleck, daughter of Matthew and Sandra Fleck of Joliet, is a graduate of St. Mary Immaculate grade school. Madison is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society. She is a JCA Heritage Award and Rosemary Boetto DeBartolo Memorial Scholarship recipient and has received an award medal for U.S. World History. Madison is a member of the varsity track and field team, active in Key Club, Student Ambassadors, Student Council, and is a Eucharistic Minister. In Madison’s spare time, she volunteers with the Joliet Chapter of Pink Heals and is an employee of the Joliet Park District. She plans to attend the University of Iowa where she will major in political science and minor in psychology and a foreign language. Madison aspires to go on the pre-law track and eventually become a lawyer.

Daniel Rouse, son of Kevin and the late Susan Rouse of Plainfield, is a graduate of St. Raymond grade school. He is a member of the National Honor Society and serves as Communications Officer, National English Honor Society, and National Spanish Honor Society. Daniel is a varsity football player and team captain and has received All-State, 2X All-Conference, and Conference Defensive Player of the Year awards. He is also an active member of Key Club and Habitat for Humanity. Daniel is busy outside of his school duties as he announces for Team Zone Flag Football and works for APF Powerlifting and Fat Boyz Pizza and Stuff, and likes to weightlift, train for football, and spend time with family and friends. Daniel will attend Grand View University in the fall where he is committed to play football and plans to major in finance with a minor in biology.
