Joliet Catholic Academy President/Principal Dr. Jeffrey Budz is pleased to announce the May Students of the Month: Tyler Czerak (Kiwanis Club), Keegan Farnaus (Rotary Club) and Elizabeth Dvorak (Lions Club). JCA is proud of the success these students have exhibited in both the classroom and in the community.
Tyler Czerak, son of Deborah and Brian Czerak of Bolingbrook, is a graduate of St. Mary Immaculate grade school. He is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. Tyler was named an Illinois State Scholar this year as well as a local Class of 2025 Top 25 Student. He has previously been awarded Medals of Honor in Chemistry and Algebra II. He is on the varsity baseball team and has participated in Key Club and Euchre Club. Outside of his school responsibilities, Tyler enjoys weightlifting, playing guitar and fishing. After graduation, Tyler will attend Marquette University where he plans to study mechanical engineering.
Keegan Farnaus, son of Annie and Ron Farnaus of Joliet, is a graduate of St. Jude Catholic grade school. Keegan is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. He is a JCA Heritage Award recipient and has received a Medal of Honor in Physical Education and Certificates of Commendation in General Business and Theology. Keegan is a member of the varsity football and baseball teams for which he has won many awards at the local level and from the Illinois High School Association including the Sportsmanship Award in 2024. He has been involved in Student Ambassadors, Habitat for Humanity, Key Club, Big Buddies/Little Buddies, Economics Club, Pickleball Club, and intramural sports. In his spare time, he volunteers with Hitters UDC Baseball to assist coaches with younger teams. Keegan will attend Quincy University where he is committed to play baseball and intends to major in business with a minor in finance.
Elizabeth Dvorak, daughter of Karen and Scott Dvorak of Plano, is a graduate of St. Andrew the Apostle grade school. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. Elizabeth is a varsity tennis player and is the manager for the varsity boys volleyball team. She has been a member of Cooking Club, Sewing Club, Medical Science Club, and 41-88 Art and Literary Magazine. Elizabeth is busy outside of her school duties as she is involved in the Hearts on Fire Confirmation program and Rayos De Esperanza Mexican dance group at her parish. She enjoys tennis, singing, baking, reading, and pottery. Elizabeth will attend the University of St. Francis in the fall where she plans to major in radiography or biology and eventually pursue a master’s degree in clinical laboratory science.
