JCA’s Science Department is staffed with outstanding faculty who bring a wealth of knowledge to share with Angels and Hilltoppers.
What you can expect from the Science Department:
- Use labs and other hands on activities to help students understand phenomena in the world of science
- Do virtual dissections with the use of iPads
- Small class sizes for AP Sciences allowing for student/teacher interactions
- Lab/Activity concept based science classes rather than lecture based
- Virtual Labs like those you would find in a college setting
- Use the interactive white board to engage students in lessons
MEET OUR FACULTY
Joyce Cabay holds a Bachelor of arts in Education from the Unviersity of St. Francis. Mrs. Cabay also received her Certification in Secondary Education from USF. She is the recipient of the Joliet Area Chamber of Commerce Great Teacher Awards and a member of the JCA Hall of Fame.
Matt Morrissette holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Science in Environmental Biology from Governor State University. Mr. Morrissette received his Certificate in Secondary Education from Benedictine University. He was the recipient of the National Association for Alternative Certification Scholarship Award Winner and was named Teaching Intern of the Year.
Greg Vogen holds a Bachelor of Arts from North Central College. Mr. Vogen also received his Secondary Education Certification from North Central. He was nominated for Who’s Who Among American Science Teachers several times.
Debbie Witmer holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Florida. Mrs. Witmer received the Joliet Area Chamber of Commerce Great Teacher Award.
