JCA announces March Students of the Month

Joliet Catholic Academy President/Principal Dr. Jeffrey Budz is pleased to announce the March Students of the Month: Anne-Claire Austrums (Kiwanis Club), Paul Chovanec (Rotary Club), and Teagan Fischer (Lions Club). JCA is proud of the success these students have exhibited both in the classroom and out in the community.

Anne-Claire Austrums, daughter of Brock and Florence Austrums of Downers Grove, attended Noonan Academy. Austrums graduated from JCA with a 4.81 GPA in Honors and AP classes and was recently named JCA’s Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She was captain of the JCA Golf team, class officer in the Medical Science Club, and was inducted into the following national honor societies: National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, National English Honor Society. She also served as president of the JCA French Club. Austrums plans on becoming a physicians assistant after attending the University of Notre Dame. 

Paul Chovanec, son of Paul and Marissa Chovanec of Joliet, attended the Cathedral of St. Raymond Grade School. Chovanec graduated from JCA with a 4.97 GPA in Honors and AP Classes. Chovanec was honored as a Top 25 student at JCA by the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce & Industry and was also named an Illinois State Scholar. He was a member of the 2021 JCA State Championship Football team, which captured its IHSA-record 15th state title this past fall. Chovanec is also a member of National Honor Society, JCA’s Mentor Program, National Foreign Language Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and English National Honor Society. Chovanec plans on studying engineering and finance at the University of South Carolina.  

Teagan Fischer, daughter of Andrew and Maria Fischer of Channahon, attended Holy Family School in Shorewood. Fischer graduated recently with a 4.47 GPA in JCA Honors and AP classes. Fischer is a member of National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, French National Honor Society, and the JCA Accepting Cultural Diversity Club. Fischer plans on attending Luther College to study computer science and digital design, with a minor in creative writing.
