JCA announces September Students of the Month

Joliet Catholic Academy President/Principal, Dr. Jeffrey Budz is pleased to announce the September Students of the Month: Marissa Corsi (Kiwanis Club), Luke Pekol (Lions Club), and Zachary Pekol (Rotary Club). JCA is proud of the success these students have exhibited both in the classroom and out in the community.
 
Marissa Corsi, daughter David and Linda of Plainfield, attended St. Mary Immaculate. She is the Secretary of the Senior Student Council and Secretary of the Key Club. She is a member of the Habitat for Humanity Club, Scholastic Bowl team, Student Ambassadors, Respect Life Club, NHS, NEHS, and National Spanish Honor Society. Marissa is a Heritage Award Scholarship winner, a National Merit Commended Student, and a State Qualifier for the ICTM individual Math Competition. She plans to major in Genetics and / or Molecular Biology and hopes to be a Research Scientist. Congratulations Marissa!
 
Luke Pekol, son of Scott and Jeana Pekol of Joliet, attended Troy Middle School. He is a member of NHS, NEHS, National Spanish Honor Society, and is an AP Scholar. Luke is a member of the Varsity Cross Country team where he was All Conference and a Sectional Qualifier in 2019 and 2020. He also is a member of the Varsity Basketball team and Varsity Volleyball team where was All-conference in 2021 and All-Area Honorable Mention. He is the Student Council Vice President, Key Club Vice President, Habitat for Humanity Treasurer, NHS Vice President, and is Co-President of Future Teachers of America. Luke is involved in many activities and clubs at JCA including: Hillzone Leader, Scholastic Bowl, Math team (All-State), Wildlife Club, and Big Buddies/ Little Buddies to name a few. Luke plans to play Volleyball in college at the Division I or NAIA level and is interested in majoring in biomedical engineering or physical therapy. Congratulations Luke!
 
Zachary Pekol, son of Scott and Jeana Pekol of Joliet, attended Troy Middle School. He is an AP Scholar, President of the National Honor Society, Student Council President, Key Club President, and Secretary for the Habitat for Humanity. Zach ran for varsity Cross Country where he was All-Conference in 2019 and 2020 and he was All conference and All State for Boys Volleyball in 2022. He is the co-President of the Future Teachers of America and takes part in many clubs and activities including: Student Ambassadors, Scholastic Bowl, Medical Science, Hillzone leader, Spanish Club, and Graphic Design, to name a few. Zach gives back to his community by volunteering many, many hours. Zach plans to play Volleyball in college but is undecided on a school. He has interest in becoming an elementary school teacher after college. Congratulations Zach!
