JCA Announces March Students of the Month

Joliet Catholic Academy President/Principal Dr. Jeffrey Budz is pleased to announce the March Students of the Month: Leo Anastopoulos (Kiwanis Club), Ella Papineau (Rotary Club) and Alex Gonzalez (Lions Club).   JCA is proud of the success these students have exhibited both in the classroom and out in the community.

Leo Anastopoulos, son of Annette and Nickaloas Anastopoulos of Shorewood, is a graduate of Minooka Junior High.  Leo is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society) and is an Illinois State Scholar and AP scholar.  He is a member of the Wrestling team, Key Club, Human Rights Club, Big Buddies / Little Buddies, and the Wildlife Club.  Leo received a congressional nomination to the United Stated Naval Academy and is a National NROTC scholarship winner. He plans to attend the US Naval Academy or use his scholarship at the university of his choice to be commissioned a US naval Officer after graduation.  Leo is proud of and loves his Catholic faith.  

Ella Papineau, daughter of Jennifer Guiney and Jason Papineau of Joliet, is a graduate of Holy Family Grade School.   She is a member of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society (President), National English Honors Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and is an Illinois State Scholar.  She is in the Medical Science Club (Vice President), Wildlife Club (Secretary), and Student Ambassadors.  Ella received the Award of Excellence for the USF High School Art Exhibition and Competition.   She plans to attend either Purdue University or the University of Illinois and major in civil engineering. 

Alex Gonzalez, son of Julie and Paul Gonzalez of Romeoville, is a graduate of St. Mary Immaculate Grade School. He is a member of the National Spanish Honors Society and his favorite classes are Chemistry, Physics, and Math.  Outside of the classroom, Alex is involved in LaCrosse, Hockey, Golf and Esports.  Alex has received an award for Robotics and Engineering and in Golf, Alex made it to the Regionals and Sectionals in the State Tournament.  Alex plans to attend the University of Wisconsin / Platteville, Major in Engineering and Minor in Computer Science.
