Joliet Catholic Academy names Madeleine Smietanski as the new Head Dance Team Coach

 
 
Joliet Catholic Academy Athletic Director Jim O’Brien is proud to announce Madeleine Smietanski as the new Head Dance Team Coach of the Angels. Smietanski is an All-American Dancer who has spent the last eighteen years as a competitive dancer. She has choreographed and taught various technique master classes to several High School Dance Teams and Dance Studios around the Chicagoland area.
 
JCA Athletic Director Mr. Jim O’Brien ’92 said, “Maddy brings an abundance of energy to the program. She is an experienced dancer with tons of knowledge about the sport, and I am excited to see where she takes her program.”
 

Dance Experience at University of St. Francis, Joliet

  • Trained competitive dancer for the past 18 years.
  • Completed her first-year coaching at the University of St. Francis (NAIA)
  • 2X NAIA All-American Dancer
  • NAIA Honorable Mention Dancer
  • Won Transfer of the Year in 2018
  • Choreographed for their competitive dance season, which placed record high scores for the dance program, traveling throughout the US (Kansas, Iowa, Indiana, and Michigan)

Coaching/Choreography Experience

  • Lockport Township High School Varsity Dancer: 2014-2018
  • Volunteer Coach at Lockport Township High School for their Varsity team for 3 years (2018-2021)
  • Choreographed for Lockport Township High School
  • Junior Varsity Conference Champions
  • Choreograph and have taught various technique master classes to various High School Dance Teams and Dance Studios around the Chicagoland area

Smietanski shared “I am grateful and excited to be given the opportunity to coach the JCA Dance Team. Being that I am a former IHSA competitive dancer and choreographer, I am very familiar with the successful legacy of this program and feel honored to coach these talented dancers. I am eager to continue growing the JCA Dance Team’s legacy, as we set and reach our new team goals for the season. I feel blessed to be a part of such a strongly connected, welcoming, and hard-working community.”
