Joliet Catholic Academy is proud to announce the September Students of the Month: seniors Andriana Acosta (Lions Club), Tyler Witt (Rotary Club), and Lauren Laverdiere (Kiwanis Club).
Andriana Acosta, daughter of Felipe and Maria Acosta, is the Lions Club September Student of the Month. Andriana is a member of the varsity girls volleyball, basketball, and soccer programs. She was recently named to the 2015 Esmark High School All-American Team for Basketball. Her favorite subject is Human Anatomy, taught by Mr. Barello. She is president of the Leo’s club, and is also in the Spanish Club, Respect Life Club, Student Ambassadors, Student Council, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Club, and National Art Honor Society. Andriana was recently named JCA’s Homecoming Queen during last week’s homecoming festivities at JCA. In her spare time she is a Eucharistic minister at St. Raymond’s, and works at the Old Fashioned Pancake House, where she makes the toast. After JCA, Andriana plans on playing basketball in college close to home, while pursuing a major in Biology.

Tyler Witt, son of Kent and Sheli Witt, is the Rotary Club September Student of the Month. Tyler is a member of the varsity football team at JCA, where he starts on both the offensive and defensive lines. His favorite subject is science and his favorite class is A.P. Physics, taught by Mr. Ziesmer. Tyler is the President of the Varsity Club, and is also involved in Student Ambassadors, the Executive Board of the Student Council, Math Team, National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and Scholastic Bowl Team. Away from all of his extra-curricular activities, Tyler is interested in robotics, and plans to study it in college, either at South Dakota State or Harvard, where he will continue his academic and athletic career.

Lauren Laverdiere, daughter of Paul and Barbara, is the Kiwanis Club September Student of the Month. Lauren’s favorite subject involves the sciences, and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Stockl. She’s the President of the Drama Club at JCA and is also involved in Vocal Ensemble and Musical Theatre Troupe, Respect Life, and Student Ambassadors. In her spare time she does community theatre and sings at her church. She’d like to attend college in a big city like Chicago or New York, but is currently undecided.
