JCA announces January Students of the Month

Joliet Catholic Academy President/Principal Dr. Jeffrey Budz is pleased to announce the January Students of the Month: Matthew Gochee (Kiwanis Club), Andrew Gould (Rotary Club), Kylie Thornburg (Lions Club), and Ryan Arnold (Exchange Club). JCA is proud of the success these students have exhibited both in the classroom and out in the community.

Matthew Gochee

Matthew Gochee, son of Elizabeth Gochee, currently holds a 4.88 GPA in JCA Honors and AP classes. Gochee is an Illinois State Scholar, President of Mu Alpha Theta, President of National Honor Society, a member of National Latin Honor Society, a National Latin Test Cum Laude Certificate Winner, member of the Math Team (where he finshed in 6th place in Calculators at the ICTM 2017 state competition and has captured 1st place in regional in 2016 and 2017 in Calculators and Geometry), member of the Scholastic Bowl, and member of Habitat for Humanity. Gochee was also the captain of the Varsity Cross-County Team and is a Captain of the Varsity Track and Field team. He is currently undecided on college, but plans on majoring in computer engineering and obtaining an MBA.

 

 

 

 

Andrew Gould

Andrew Gould, son of Don and Cindy Gould, currently holds a 4.37 GPA in JCA Honors and AP classes. Gould is a member of National Spanish Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, serves as vice president of the JCA Drama Club, and also serves in Habitat for Humanity. Gould plans on majoring in Business/Communications and is also a huge movie fan, operating his own website where he reviews movies at http://www.gouldbrosproductions.com/.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kylie Thornburg

Kylie Thornburg, daughter of Michelle Thornburg, currently holds a 4.64 GPA in JCA Honors and AP classes. Thornburg is an Illinois State Scholar, member of Spanish National Honor Society, member of National Honor Society, and member of Mu Alpha Theta. She has participated in the JCA tennis program all four years of high school and two years in track and field. She is also a member of JCA Student Council, Student Ambassadors, and has served as a tennis camp counselor. She volunteers at Ready, Set, Ride; a therapeutic horseback riding facility for special needs children and also works at Holy Family Grade School’s Aftercare Program. Thornburg is a Kazma Scholar and plans on majoring in journalism in college.

 

 

 

 

Ryan Arnold

Ryan Arnold, son of James and Renee Arnold, currently holds a 4.79 GPA in JCA Honors and AP classes. Arnold is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Illinois State Scholars, Mu Alpha Theta, Scholastic Bowl, Student Council, and Student Ambassadors. He is also a member of the JCA varsity baseball team, varsity golf team, and intramural basketball. He plans on majoring in finance or accounting in college.
