Over the weekend, JCA Girls’ Varsity Tennis participated in the JCA Invite. Maddie Bauer and McCoy Hutchison won the doubles title beating the #1 seeded Providence team in the finals. Alex Legg and Lauren Geschke made it through two rounds. Nina Bertino made it to the finals of consolation after losing a very tough match to Providence’s top singles player. Katie Payne made it through two rounds.

On Monday, the Angels beat Lockport 4-3. The final winning point came down to both teams watching as the second doubles team of Lauren Geschke and Alex Legg won in a third set super tie breaker 10-3. Nina Bertino won big at first singles. Katie Payne played a phenomenal match beating another great player at #2 singles. The #1 doubles team of Maddie Bauer and McCoy Hutchison, both freshmen, came through again with a slow start but a very strong finish and beat one of the best teams in JCA’s sectional in two straight sets.
