The Joliet Catholic Academy administration has made several changes to the Back to School calendar in August. Also, due to the transition to the four day per week hybrid learning model, Thursday’s will no longer be early dismissals at 1:40 p.m. JCA teachers will receive professional development in the afternoons of regularly scheduled in-person learning days.
Calendar Changes:
Sunday, August 16 – The Freshman Welcome Mass has been cancelled. Instead, JCA will hold a Freshman Parent Meeting from 2 p.m.-3:30 p.m. in the JCA Student Activity Center. Three sessions will be held in various sections of campus so that social distancing can be maintained. Incoming freshman parents will receive presentations One parent/guardian is invited and must register to attend. An invite will be forthcoming.
Thursday, August 20 – Freshman Orientation will take place from 7:50 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Orientation will be condensed to one day. Freshman will go through a mock schedule to become familiar with their surrounding and will be introduced to COVID-19 protocols. Students will also receive presentations from various departments including Deans/Student Life, Counsling/Diversity, Technology, and Admissions/Student Ambassadors.
Friday, August 21 – Sophomore, Junior, Senior students Return to School Orientation. Students will be introduced to COVID-19 protocols. The time and schedule is TBD and will be announced shortly.
Monday, August 24 – The first full-day of school for all students.

Monday/Thursday Schedule
Period 1 7:50 a.m. – 8:50 a.m.
Period 2 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Period 3 10:10 a.m. – 11:10 a.m.
Period 4 11:20 a.m. – 12:20 p.m.; Fr./So. 12:15 p.m. dismissal
- Periods 5, 6, 7, 8 will be E-Learning with posted assignments and teacher availability from 1:00 p.m. to 2:40 p.m.
- Seniors with 1st period Study Hall do not need to arrive until 9 a.m. on Monday/Thursday but must enter through the main entrance.
After-School Program – offered for all students needing to stay on campus due to transportation issues or staying for extra-curricular programs. Upper classmen and students who drive are encouraged to take lunch off campus and perform E-Learning afternoon work from home.
Lunch 12:20 p.m. – 12:50 p.m.
E-Learn/Supervised Study Hall 1:00 p.m. – 2:40 p.m.
