Important information regarding incoming freshman Parent Orientation and Freshman Orientation

Hello JCA Freshman Families,

We are looking forward to the start of the school year!  We are hosting a Class of 2024 Parent Orientation on Sunday, August 16 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Space is limited to ONE parent per student.  Students are NOT to attend.  Parents will be led into one of three large spaces to accommodate social distancing. Three twenty-minute presentations will detail technology and academics, counseling support and other resources, and dean’s office and student life. Parents must register by using the following link:

Please enter through the gym doors facing Ingalls Avenue. Masks are required. Please note, if you are not able to attend, the meeting will be videotaped. A link to that meeting will be emailed out to all parents.

Fr. Jeff Smialek will be hosting a virtual Mass on Sunday, August 16. The Mass will be available on the JCA Facebook page beginning at 8 a.m. on the 16th. Please join us in celebrating our Class of 2024 within our faith-based community.

Freshman Orientation is scheduled for Thursday, August 20 from 7:50 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Freshmen may begin to arrive at school at 7:30 a.m. and will report directly to their Homeroom classroom as listed on his/her schedule. Freshmen should be in homeroom by 7:50 a.m. Freshmen will need to bring their laptop and class schedule. Dress code will be spirit wear. Please see our JCA Parent Handbook for details on spirit wear dress code.

Bus transportation will run on Freshman Orientation.  There is NO SCHOOL FOR FRESHMAN ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 21.

As you prepare for the start of the school year, here are a couple of reminders:

  • TODAY (Monday, August 10) is the LAST day to sign up for e-learning and after-school program
  • Dress code for in-person classes is spirit wear.  Remote learning on Wednesdays, students must be in a JCA Uniform Polo shirt.
  • You should have received your student’s schedule and a book list.  You are responsible for purchasing books needed for each class.
  • Do not worry about school supplies yet!  Each teacher will provide your student with a syllabus and supplies needed for the class.
  • As a reminder, JCA’s return to school plan and schedule can be found here:  Daily schedule
  • Reminder: all students must wear masks on a daily basis while in school. Only solid masks or gators are allowed.
  • Students will be allowed to carry a backpack. Lockers will NOT be issued.

Please feel free to contact me or JCA assistant admissions director Mrs. Mary Ragusa at mragusa@jca-online.org if you have any questions. We are happy to help you.
